Meeting Michelle Goodman at the Sierra Vista Community Gardens was such an inspiring experience. It was a lovely and warmish January day, and seeing her robust winter vegetables made me want to go home and plant something! Michelle is a new member of the board in addition to her MANY other roles and interests in the SV community. She became serious about gardening while her daughter Josie was involved in a Girl Scout service project for a Gold Award with SVCG. Because Michelle’s yard at home is too small to support the garden she wanted, she decided to rent a space and join the gardeners here. She tells me that there is so much fun and sharing working alongside others in their gardens. Today Michelle has 2 family beds, and is also looking after other garden beds that are in transition. Michelle and her mother are both Master Gardeners, finding that the course is a wonderful way to discover local resources and answers to questions. Like others committed to gardening, Michelle insists there is nothing better than eating the produce you have grown and cooked. “It all tastes much better than even organic food, plus there’s a huge sense of pride and satisfaction. . . Yes, I CAN do this!” "And", she adds, "winter gardening is THE BEST!" (2017)
